Description
This is a really engrossing and detailed adaptation of the Hardy classic - true not only to the plot but also to the actual dialogue of the novel.
The actors are uniformly excellent, assisted by a subtle well-paced script, gorgeous scenery and beautiful camera work. I don't think a better version of Thomas Hardy's greatest novel will ever be made and absolutely recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Hardy.
This production won a Bafta award in 1998 and it is not too difficult to see why! Far superior to the better known version made in the 1960s.
Running Time: 3 hours and 20 minutes.
